With many feathers
already entitled to his name, Professor
Niranjan Sahoo has crowned yet another achievement. Department of Atomic Energy , under Uranium Corporation of India Limited, established on 4th
October 1967, a Government of India Enterprise has proposed to form an Apex
Committee with the purpose of developing public awareness on radiation and
review radiological surveillance in the public domain in and around its
different units. The Chairman and
Managing Director of UCIL, Mr P. K. Parhi has requested our esteemed Professor
Niranjan Sahoo to be a part of the Committee and exercise his area of expertise
in the field of Rural Management and Disaster Management.
Prof.
Niranjan, born in a small village in Orissa, has paved his career path in the
domain of Rural Development and specialised with Disaster Management, Project
Management, Management of NGOs and Corporate Social Responsibilities. He has
had a good number of 15 years of job experience. After pursuing M.Phil. and
completing his job in the Administrative
Training Institute , Government of Tripura, Professor Sahoo joined XISS,
Ranchi. He was felicitated with Visva-Bharati Snatakattor Upadhi in 1997 at Santiniketan,
by the then Prime Minister of India, Shri I. K. Gujral. Also, he has received
International Intellectual Award 2010 in an International Conference on
“Indo-Thai Friendship Summit and Economic Growth” held in Bangkok, Thailand on
30th December,2010 for outstanding rural development teachings. His
array of triumphs doesn’t just end here. He has a total of 10 National and 2
International research publications so far. He has travelled across many
countries like Bangladesh, England, Singapore, South Africa and Thailand. Also,
he has been invited to deliver lectures in South Korean Universities as well.
Professor
Niranjan Sahoo’s monumental achievements are a boon to XISS and we are
fortunate to be called his students. His triumphs are an inspiration for all
and set a lesson for us to reach the pinnacle of our career with absolute
sincerity and steady determination.
