The Message Of Dusshera

Dusshera, as we all know, is one of the most important festival according to the Hindu mythology, that is usually celebrated in the month of October every year and it also the initiation of the autumn season. It is believed that ten-headed Ravana was defeated by Ram and that is the main cause of the grand celebration of this ten-day long festival.

Autumn, as we all know, is the month of letting go off things as the leaves are being dispatched by the trees likewise I would like to draw an analogy between this ten-day festival and autumn season. During the Puja period, we are also supposed to dispatch all our grievances and grudges that we hold for any of our folks and also try to let go off all the negativity we hold cause that is the main essence of celebrating such an auspicious festival.

Ravana had an immense ego and Ram did what exactly this era needed, he killed him and gave the world an example of what could happen if someone possesses negativity. This festival is a cultural bonanza and teaches how one should be attached to one's rituals and heritage.

Goddess Durga is being worshiped during this festive season. Worshiping goddess signifies removing evils and demons from our inner self as well as from the environment. A paradoxical situation arises over here which reveals the condition of women in our society. The irony is, how we worship the goddess and at the same we ill treat women, people do try to eradicate such demons and evils from the society as well. People celebrate this festival with utmost happiness and joy.

The message that is being delivered through this festival is very pure and clear, brotherhood is the key of existence and leading a peaceful life and respect women.
