Two Day MDP on Implementation of CSR for Power Grid Corporation of India


A Two day Management Development Programme (MDP) was organized at XISS on 29th-30th January 2016 by the MDP team of the institute supported by the Assistant Director Fr. Ranjit Toppo. The program was designed by Prof. Pinaki Ghosh for the Nodal officers of Power Grid who are responsible for the implementation of CSR Projects of the company. The participants of the programme represented the entire length and breadth of the country ranging from Leh and Kargil in J&K to Chennai in South India and from Guwahati in Assam to Baroda in Gujarat This MDP was considered very important by the participants keeping in mind the New Company Act 2013 -Guidelines on CSR coming into force since April 2014. 



The 2 Day program was delivered by internal resource persons namely Fr. Ranjit Pascal Toppo Prof. Pinaki Ghosh, Dr. Himadri Sinha, and Industry Experts from ONGC and Jindal Steel and Power. The MDP developed a holistic understanding of the concept and practices in CSR for the participants. It covered the areas of Conceptual Understanding of CSR, Section 135 of the New Company Act 2013, Success stories and cases of CSR approaches and implementation by XISS and the participating companies. All the participants including the Power Grid Chief Manager ( HR)-CSR found the programme very useful to them. All the participants expressed their desire to participate in such interventions in the future The Senior Level Representative of the company opined that they are looking forward to organizing such a programme for a longer duration with Senior level Managers as participants. The MDP team headed by Prof. Ignatius Xaxa, Prof. Mary Bodra and Prof. Pinaki Ghosh worked enthusiastically to make this MDP on CSR a grand success.
