Diamond Jubilee Festivities – Gearing Up

As XISS gears up for its Diamond Jubilee Festivities, a plethora of events, touting to have something for everyone, has been finalized.  The four day event will kick off on February 14 with a Marathon aiming to propagate awareness for a sustainable future. The day will also feature a Tribal Culture Extravaganza which will include bands of dancers showcasing local tribes and their cultural heritage.

Day 2 of the Diamond Jubilee week will have local bands performing for the masses. XISS' very own Maxis will also convene to show their musical chops.  A dance competition ‘Tap your Toe’ is also scheduled late in the day. Students from various domains will gather to present their research papers on how management can best serve to achieve sustainability. Since the presenters have been advised to collate data from the real world, the presentation promises to establish a stark relationship between what lies in journals and the ground reality.

Day 3 promises to be filled to the brim with festivities. First up we will have Crossroads - an event aimed at testing the participants' mettle. The event promises to showcase individuals and their decisions in the face of adversity.  Activities running the gamut from Photography and Face Painting to Rangoli aim to invite individuals to try their hand and venture out of their comfort zone. The famous treasure hunt by the name Scavengers will ensure the busybodies be occupied. Late in the day, Politicomania will take centre stage, where students and the audience will have a taste of politics done right, in a way of ad hoc political units and their manifestoes. Nukkad Natak bears the task of bringing social injustices to the forefront, all the while keeping the crowds entertained. On this day, eminent scholars are invited to share their insights on various measures one must take to achieve sustainability. These scholars, with their years of research and investigation, will certainly help hit the message home.

The final day of a week full of festivities will include a Flash Mob organized by students, so if you suddenly find everyone dancing just join the crew! The event promises to be refulgent in its splendor. The much awaited event by the name of Mr. and Ms. Diamond will showcase participants being judged on various parameters to determine who gets the coveted title. Various participants will be vying to have the room come unglue with their stand up routine. The day will be brought to a close with various cultural events showcasing XISS' efforts to keep management and the real world, in tandem.

All in all, XISS' Diamond Jubilee week is shaping up to be a delight, for participants and audience alike. XISS has always managed to be at the forefront of activities when it comes to ensuring social justice and upliftment of the disenfranchised. XISS has indubitably played its part in becoming the voice of the voiceless in its 60 years of existence and shall long continue to do so. The picking up of the social mantle by XISS has translated many other institutes follow suit investing them for the betterment of the social construct.

The festivities kept in the fold, hold promise to be fresh in the memory of those involved.
